Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God

Where will you go, if not to Jesus. Where will you turn if not to the Christ. The Word of God is Jesus, his testimony, his teachings. He truly is the only way to get to the heavenly Father.

Who will you be afraid of, or what will you be afraid of? Does death terrify you? Does the loss of your loved ones scare you? Does losing your job make you afraid?

Be afraid of God, who once your mortal body has died, can cast you into hell, where your soul can be killed.

You, who think that you can continue in evil, and the death of Jesus will cover you, are in error. We must depart from evil, leave it behind, stop it. Jesus did not come to cover up our sins, but to do away them. Only righteousness can stop sin. True righteousness is found in the teachings of Jesus the Christ.

Don’t be tricked. If simply believing that he died for my sins were enough, then there would be no call by him to repent from sin. If it were true, that his death on the cross removes my sin completeley, and that I could do nothing, then he could have been crucified at any time.

Jesus, said when praying to the Father, “I have given them the words you gave me, and they have believed that you sent me” (John chapter 17).

It was important that we get these teachings from God, that we might know how to avoid the tricks of Satan, and walk in true holiness, and righteousness. Because if we don’t, we won’t see God.

That’s the truth, I didn’t make it up.

Abide in Jesus

Jesus said, in John 15 verse 5, “I am the vine, you are the branches: he that abides in me, and I in him, that person brings forth much fruit: because you can do nothing without me. Verse 6 says, If a man does not abide in me, he is cast off as a branch, and dries up, and men gather those and cast them into the fire. Verse 7, if you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you will, and it shall be done to you.

Think about what Jesus is saying in these verses, and in all of the other verses in the Gospels. In him, his will only exists. You will ask only for his will in him, just as he did the Father’s.

The Gift of God in Jesus

If you desire to follow Jesus, you must take up your cross daily. This means you must lay down your own desires, and your own will, and do the will of God in Christ Jesus. Sin is not an option in the kingdom of God and his Christ. The righteousness that is in Christ will not cloak your sin, but as John the baptist said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, which takes way the sin of the world.” The power of God to cleanse us from all unrighteousness is waiting on us to confess and forsake our sins. What a marvelous act of kindness our Father has shown us. Peace to all who call on God out of a pure heart; may the the Lord bless and keep you and yours always. Amen.

Go and sin no more?

Do you think Jesus told the adultress woman, who was caught in the very act, that as long as she believed in him, that her sin would be forgiven? No he said, I do not accuse you, go and sin no more.

Jesus was not interested in accusing her before the Father, because he understood the scripture. If a man turns from his sin to righteousness, then the unrighteousness that man committed is forgotten. If a man should turn from righteousness to unrighteousness, then his righteousness will be forgotten. His only goal, was to give her the opportunity to walk away from her sin. Nothing more, nothing less.

Jesus was not offering her or anyone else a cloak for sin, or a get out of hell free card. The righteousness that is by faith in Christ that Paul spoke about, in Romans chapter 3, is still righteousness. If the righteousness of Jesus could make our unrighteousness acceptable to God, then even the devils who believe will be saved. And now unrighteousness may continue, as it has been made righteous by God in Christ. I think not.

Whoever commits sin, is the servant of sin. Sin is of the devil, who sinned from the beinning, because the truth is not him. Even when he speaks the word of God, he makes it a lie. Whoever is born of God, cannot sin, because his seed remains in him. Don’t be deceived, God is not the minister of sin. God is the minister of righteousness through Christ Jesus. If we are born again, we are no longer the servant of sin, but of righteousness in Christ. If we fail to escape the temptation (and God knows whether we try) and fall into some sin, while striving to walk in righteousness, we have a mediator with the Father, even our Lord Jesus.

Let us leave behind our sin now, and look to the righteousness of God contained in the doctrine of Jesus Christ; this is acceptable to God, and is our calling.

If the Lord returns for you tonight, and you are in sin, you will perish. Repent, turn from your sin to righteousness. According to your works may you be rewarded.
